About the position

The Account Director will develop strategies and manage staff for various clients in technology and social impact sectors. This role involves leading client relations, conceptualizing pitches, and overseeing project management for multiple accounts, ensuring effective communication and successful outcomes for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of communications strategies for long-term PR planning and company milestones alongside clients and teammates.
  • Manage daily client communications, providing counsel, setting expectations, and building strong relationships.
  • Oversee account teams to ensure quality of work, meeting goals and deadlines with strong ROI.
  • Conceptualize and drive new story angles and media opportunities for clients, including expert commentary and event appearances.
  • Write and edit high-quality client deliverables such as press releases, talking points, op-eds, and blogs with minimal oversight.
  • Drive day-to-day execution with little guidance, while staying on track of client deliverables.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in strategic communications roles, media relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • Strong and demonstrable writing and editing skills across various communications-oriented work.
  • Ability to craft interesting media angles and build relationships with reporters proactively.
  • Interest in and experience working with technology companies, with experience in startups being a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize work streams and manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with varying levels of staff, clients, and the media.
