About the position

As an Account Director for Meeting and Event Strategy at Palladian Partners, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in supporting a diverse array of webinars, virtual meetings, and larger in-person conferences, including extensive exhibit hall style meetings. This position is designed for a mission-driven, ambitious leader who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will be responsible for managing Palladian's events team and setting the strategic direction for this line of business, which includes developing our approach to delivering meeting and event capabilities and spearheading business development activities to grow the events sector of the company. In this role, you will manage complex projects from their conceptual phase through to execution and completion, ensuring that the quality of work meets the high standards expected by our clients. You will create momentum within your team to deliver exceptional results while identifying opportunities for growth. Your ability to think strategically will be crucial as you anticipate potential opportunities and risks, providing solutions to ensure the team can meet its objectives. You will take ownership of larger projects, feeling accountable for both the work produced and the processes involved. Leading a team, you will collaborate closely with the project management team to ensure that deliverables are met as required. Additionally, you will support junior account team members, providing mentorship and opportunities for them to lead elements of projects. Your responsibilities will include prioritizing and delegating tasks, modeling and promoting company values, influencing decisions, and driving change. You will also be involved in designing and implementing process improvements in innovative ways, participating in strategy development, and applying external best practices internally. Your efforts will significantly contribute to organic growth and new business development, ensuring that Palladian remains a leader in the health communication space.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex projects from the conceptual phase to execution and completion ensuring quality work product.
  • Create momentum within the team to deliver high quality work and identify opportunities to drive growth.
  • Think one step ahead beyond the short term, identifying potential opportunities and next steps needed, flagging risks, and coming up with solutions for how the team can fulfill or overcome them.
  • Take responsibility for larger projects and feel accountable for both the work and the process.
  • Lead a team of people on these projects, working in partnership with the PM team to ensure that the team delivers as required.
  • Support junior account team members to help them learn and grow, giving them an opportunity to step up and lead elements of the projects with you.
  • Prioritize and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Model and encourage company values.
  • Influence decisions and drive change within the organization.
  • Design and implement process improvement efforts in strategic and innovative ways.
  • Participate in and impact strategy development for the events business.
  • Influence actions and facilitate change within the team.
  • Apply knowledge of external best practices internally to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Help drive organic growth and significantly contribute to new business development.

Requirements

  • Experience managing complex project teams.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Ability to manage talent and team development effectively.
  • Experience managing multiple vendors and events simultaneously.
  • Experience with online event registration and hosting tools and platforms.
  • Proven ability to create budgets for large-scale government events, considering relevant legal limitations and direct costs.
  • Expertise in owning the technical and business portions of federal proposals related to conferences and events.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Government Meeting Planner (CGMP) certification from the Society for Government Meeting Professionals.
  • Warehousing management experience.
  • Experience with National Institutes of Health clients or other Department of Health and Human Services or federal clients.
