About the position

The Account Executive Officer (AEO) for Commercial Accounts at Travelers Companies, Inc. is responsible for managing the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business. This role involves underwriting and negotiating complex customer accounts, cultivating relationships with agents and brokers, and identifying new business opportunities. The AEO acts as a technical resource, leveraging their expertise to drive results and contribute to the company's success in the commercial insurance market.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
  • Underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
  • Develop and execute agency sales plans in partnership with the Managing Director.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of less experienced Account Executives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of underwriting experience.
  • Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in commercial lines.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial lines products and the local insurance market.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills with negotiation abilities.
