About the position

The Account Executive Officer (AEO) for National Property is responsible for managing a portfolio of high-value, complex property risks. This role involves underwriting, negotiating, and cultivating relationships with agents and brokers to ensure profitability and retention of business. The AEO acts as a technical resource, leveraging deep knowledge of property-related products and the insurance market to drive results and capture new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
  • Underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Occasionally negotiate and procure reinsurance to underwrite complex accounts.
  • Facilitate the placement of foreign admitted policies and assist in business development activities for global underwriting services.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by meeting with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
  • Develop and execute agency sales plans in partnership with the Managing Director.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of less experienced Account Executives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in National Property.
  • Deep knowledge of property-related products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
  • Deep financial acumen.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills with negotiation abilities.
