About the position

The Account Executive Officer (AEO) for National Property at Travelers is responsible for managing a portfolio of complex property insurance accounts. This role involves underwriting, negotiating, and cultivating relationships with agents and brokers to ensure profitability and retention of business. The AEO acts as a technical resource, leveraging their expertise to assess risks and develop sales strategies that align with the company's objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
  • Underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Negotiate and procure reinsurance for complex accounts as needed.
  • Facilitate the placement of foreign admitted policies and assist in global underwriting services.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Foster relationships with external partners by meeting with agents and brokers to market Travelers products.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
  • Develop and execute agency sales plans in partnership with the Managing Director.
  • Assist in training and mentoring less experienced Account Executives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of underwriting experience.
  • Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in National Property.
  • Deep knowledge of property-related products and the local insurance market.
  • Strong financial acumen and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for negotiation with agents and brokers.
  • CPCU designation is preferred.
