About the position

The Account Executive for Security and Fire at Johnson Controls is responsible for selling service offerings to building owners, primarily at the Director level. This role involves promoting the company's value proposition, managing long-term customer relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction while driving sales in the construction industry. The position requires a consultative sales approach to cultivate and close new sales opportunities, expanding the company's offerings within assigned accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the sale of Johnson Controls service offerings to owners, primarily at the Director level.
  • Promote the Johnson Controls value proposition to building owners by providing technical solutions and operational expertise.
  • Build and manage long-term customer relationships/partnerships with target and managed accounts.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and sell Security and Integrated Systems to the construction industry.
  • Perform the sales process to cultivate and manage long-term relationships and seek out, qualify, and close new sales opportunities.
  • Obtain and close sales on a monthly basis.
  • Expand the depth and breadth of Johnson Controls offerings within an account.
  • Maintain frequent face-to-face contact with customers to influence penetration.
  • Actively listen, probe, and identify customer concerns and address them.
  • Develop credibility, loyalty, trust, and commitment with customers.
  • Make take-offs and bids for projects with the full spectrum of JCI offerings.
  • Drive specifications of projects towards the JCI offering with assigned consulting engineers.
  • Keep management informed of progress and account status.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge by writing specifications or matching proposals to building specifications.
  • Qualify and assess potential customers under direction.
  • Team with colleagues on individual projects based on account assignments.
  • Develop relationships with internal operations and administrative staff to ensure customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience of more than eight years.
  • A minimum of two (2) plus years of consultative progressive field sales experience in a highly complex sales process, preferably in the Fire/Security/IT industry, with a strong emphasis on Security selling.
  • Excellent initiative and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence the market at key levels.
  • Technically savvy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business or Engineering.
  • A proven track record of sales success in the Fire/Security/IT industry of five or more years.
