About the position

The Account Executive (AE) for National Property at Travelers Insurance is responsible for managing a portfolio of high-value, complex property risks. This role involves underwriting, negotiating customer accounts, and building relationships with agents and brokers to drive business growth and retention. The AE will assess risks, develop sales plans, and contribute to the profitability of the company by providing tailored property protection solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
  • Underwrite and skillfully negotiate customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Occasionally negotiate and procure reinsurance to underwrite complex accounts.
  • Facilitate the placement of foreign admitted policies and assist in business development activities for global underwriting services.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by meeting with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
  • Develop and execute agency sales plans and execute region/group sales plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of underwriting experience.
  • Three to five years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in National Property.
  • Knowledge of property-related products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
  • Deep financial acumen.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills for successful negotiation with agents and brokers.
  • CPCU designation.
