About the position

The Account Executive (AE), Ocean Marine, Luxury Yacht at Travelers is a pivotal role that focuses on managing the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business within the Ocean Marine sector. This position requires a proactive approach to underwriting and negotiating customer accounts, ensuring that risks are minimized while maximizing profitability. The AE will work closely with agents and brokers to provide tailored coverage for new and renewal business, aligning with the specific needs of small and mid-size businesses. The role emphasizes the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships both internally and externally, which is essential for driving results and achieving sales targets. In this hybrid position, the AE will be expected to travel for in-person meetings with agents and brokers, fostering relationships that are crucial for marketing and selling Travelers products. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking skills, enabling them to identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and make informed decisions that align with the company's risk appetite. Additionally, the AE will be responsible for developing and executing agency sales plans, capturing new business opportunities, and collaborating with internal partners to create effective sales strategies. Overall, this role is designed for a detail-oriented individual who is decisive and capable of navigating the complexities of the Ocean Marine insurance market, contributing to the overall success and profitability of Travelers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of business.
  • Underwrite and skillfully negotiate customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal partners within the business unit and across the enterprise to create sales plans and identify cross-selling opportunities.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with external partners by regularly meeting in person with agents and brokers to market and sell Travelers products.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities using consultative marketing and sales skills.
  • Develop and execute agency sales plans. Execute region/group sales plans.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of underwriting experience.
  • Three to five years of relevant underwriting experience with experience in Ocean Marine, Luxury Yacht.
  • Knowledge of Ocean Marine products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to proactively identify underwriting, marketing, or financial challenges and analyze available information to make timely decisions in alignment with our risk appetite.
  • Communication skills with the ability to successfully negotiate with agents and brokers.
  • CPCU designation.
