About the position

ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP® is seeking an Account Executive to join our Public Sector Central Region team, based in Frankfort, KY. This role is pivotal in generating new business through a consultative sales approach, focusing on developing leads and building relationships with potential utility and public sector clients. The Account Executive will be responsible for driving new revenue while ensuring appropriate gross margins are maintained. This position requires a deep understanding of the utility sector and the ability to translate customer needs into feasible, installable solutions in collaboration with the operations team. The Account Executive will engage directly with leadership, engineers, project managers, contract specialists, and other technical representatives from both the company and prospective customers. This role also involves developing financial solutions tailored to customer needs and engaging with market segment leadership to identify strategic opportunities that align with the long-term goals of the Public Sector team. Key responsibilities include prospecting for new business through various channels such as trade shows, research, and cold calling. The Account Executive must cultivate effective business relationships, communicate the full scope of solutions to meet customer goals, and achieve sales objectives. Maintaining open communication with customers to understand their needs and ensuring that solutions align with their goals is essential. The role also requires meeting specific activity and result standards, preparing and presenting professional proposals, and maintaining customer contact throughout the installation period to address any additional needs or concerns that may arise. Monitoring account plan progress, including market conditions and competitive activity, is also a critical function of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for new business through trade shows, research, and cold calls.
  • Develop thorough knowledge of the renewable energy industry, including structure, opportunities, trends, and issues.
  • Cultivate effective business relationships and communicate the full scope of solutions to meet customer business goals.
  • Open communication lines with customers to understand their needs and ensure solutions align with their goals.
  • Meet standards for activities and results, including first calls, letters of authorization, sales amounts, and gross margin goals.
  • Prepare and present professional proposals addressing customer needs and concerns, including financial proposals.
  • Maintain customer contact throughout the installation period to resolve additional needs and concerns.
  • Monitor account plan progress, including market conditions, customer needs, and competitive activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
  • Five or more years of industry experience selling large solutions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Highly effective sales negotiation and closing techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to compose and write proposals, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
