About the position

Matson Logistics is seeking an Account Executive to join our Business Development team. This role is pivotal in building and expanding a diverse portfolio of accounts through effective transportation and logistics sales. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, highly motivated, and eager to advance their career within a dynamic environment. As an Account Executive, you will be responsible for cultivating strong business relationships with both existing and prospective customers, ensuring that Matson Logistics continues to deliver superior performance and value in multimodal transportation, warehousing, and distribution services across North America. In this position, you will engage in various sales activities, including calling on existing and prospective customer accounts to secure new business and maintain existing relationships. You will create and nurture relationships through effective sales presentations, aiming to generate business that results in positive gross margins for Matson Logistics. Identifying new business prospects and utilizing your industry network will be essential in establishing goals and objectives for securing invitations to bid on business opportunities. Your role will also involve engaging in approved travel and customer entertainment to enhance Matson Logistics' market share and business volumes. As a team leader, you will collaborate with internal teams to develop customized transportation solutions that are both cost-effective and aligned with Matson Logistics' operational capabilities. Timely follow-up with customers and effective communication will be crucial in managing customer expectations and ensuring satisfaction. Additionally, you will be responsible for completing all sales and activity reports thoroughly and providing requested data promptly. Compliance with company policies and safety regulations is mandatory, and you will perform any other tasks necessary to support customer requirements and company goals. Responsibilities

  • Call on existing and prospective customer accounts to secure new business and preserve existing business.
  • Create and cultivate relationships with customers and conduct effective sales presentations to generate business.
  • Identify new business prospects and establish goals for obtaining invitations to bid on business.
  • Engage in approved travel and customer entertainment to increase market share and business volumes.
  • Act as a team leader and work with internal teams to create customized transportation solutions.
  • Provide timely follow-up to customers and utilize effective communication.
  • Complete all sales and activity reports thoroughly and provide requested data on time.
  • Set realistic customer expectations and manage customer accessorial processes.
  • Comply with all company rules, policies, and procedures, and work safely by following safety regulations.
  • Perform any other tasks required to support customer requirements and company goals.

Requirements

  • High school degree or G.E.D. required.
  • Five (5) or more years of transportation sales experience required.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively with internal teams.
  • Ability to utilize information technology, including Internet, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Business, Marketing, Transportation, or related field.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
