About the position

The Account Executive plays a crucial role in leading the sales and estimating functions of the company. This position involves interpreting blueprints, estimating materials and labor, and pricing projects while ensuring that customer specifications align with industry standards. The Account Executive is responsible for building relationships with customers and managing the sales process from prospecting to project handoff.

Responsibilities

  • Prospect for new customers through canvassing, networking events, site walks, referrals, etc.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers within a reasonable timeframe using phone and email.
  • Attend site walks to determine size, scope, budget, timing, and other factors for jobs.
  • Use solution selling when consulting with customers to determine the best fix for their needs/budget.
  • Determine key variables for cost and other estimates.
  • Perform risk analysis associated with the project.
  • Use estimating software to create competitive bids and maintain appropriate project margins.
  • Provide competitive and professional proposals for customers.
  • Negotiate pricing and scope with customer to fit needs and budget.
  • Manage ITB's, download plans, review specs, and fill out provided bid sheets.
  • Attend any General Contractor, Architect, or Customer pre-bid meetings.
  • Generate RFIs and RFQs to general contractors, architects, engineers, and customers.
  • Generate and distribute change orders and submittals as needed.
  • Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors or vendors as needed.
  • Create and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons.
  • Build relationships with key contractors and vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, etc.).
  • Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs, phasing, etc.).
  • Get quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame.
  • Work with operations team members and schedule pre-bid meetings.
  • Conduct handoff meetings of projects to Project Managers/Superintendents as needed.
  • Maintain and update Customer Relationship Management (CRM) data weekly.
  • Project manage sold projects including marking jobs, planning with customers and production team, and close outs.
  • Complete one CBO (Critical Behavior Observation) monthly.
  • Submit necessary paperwork to Sales Administrator after winning including site map or takeoff, proposal, budget estimate, and schedule needs.
  • Attend weekly sales meetings, including a once a month in-person meeting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in sales and estimating within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in using Bluebeam and other take-off software.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Ability to perform risk analysis and cost estimation.
  • Experience in project management and customer relationship management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with construction project management software.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and specifications.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
