About the position

The Account Manager, Experienced for CalPERS at Blue Shield of California is responsible for providing strategic oversight and consultative support to CalPERS and its employer groups. This role focuses on sales, retention, and support of health benefit programs, engaging with Health Benefit Officers and members, and planning client strategies for open enrollment and year-round events. The position covers Northern Los Angeles County, San Luis Obispo County, and Bakersfield County, with additional support for other territories.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and consultative support to CalPERS and employer groups.
  • Manage sales, retention, and support of health benefit programs.
  • Assist in planning and implementing client strategies for open enrollment.
  • Engage with Health Benefit Officers and members year-round.
  • Promote the CalPERS line of business through events and engagement activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Moderate to thorough experience in sales or marketing.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years of Health Plan or Broker sales experience.
  • Active Life Agent License with California Department of Insurance.

Nice-to-haves

  • CalPERS experience or experience with large, multi-site government accounts.
  • Knowledge of different funding arrangements including HMO, PPO, ASO, contract and underwriting/rating.
