About the position

Phenomenex is seeking an Account Manager - Outside Sales to manage and maintain the territory of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. This role is pivotal in ensuring that sales, gross profit, and unit goals are not only met but exceeded. The Account Manager will be responsible for maintaining customer accounts, providing advanced service and technical support through regular on-site consultative visits. The position requires a proactive approach to customer engagement, ensuring that clients receive the highest level of service and support for their chromatography-related needs. In this role, you will conduct on-site customer visits to deliver technical information about chromatography products and services. You will also be tasked with developing and executing business plans, conducting market analysis, and implementing sales strategies tailored to your assigned territory. This includes conducting product demonstrations and technical seminars, as well as attending local vendor shows to promote Phenomenex's offerings. Building and nurturing relationships with both new and existing customers is essential, and you will be expected to maintain detailed information in the customer database system. A positive attitude, teamwork, and a commitment to learning and contributing to the company culture are key attributes for success in this position. The role demands strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and allocate resources effectively. You will be expected to travel up to 75% of the time across the three states, which requires a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record. This position also offers the flexibility of remote work arrangements, allowing you to work from home while fulfilling your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Life Sciences field.
  • Previous experience in sales or customer-facing roles.
  • Lab experience is preferred.
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to present clearly to large groups and individuals.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and assign resources in a detailed fashion.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Good working knowledge of the chromatography consumables market.
  • Familiarity with the biopharma industry and various industry customers.
