About the position

The Vendor Account Manager at Markel is responsible for managing vendor engagement and performance, serving as the primary liaison for claims vendor services. This role involves collaborating with claims stakeholders to identify suitable vendor partners, ensuring adherence to qualitative requirements, and supporting expense management. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong communication skills, capable of analyzing metrics to foster productive vendor partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Administer pipeline for potential vendors, negotiate rates, and participate in the onboarding process.
  • Participate in the stewardship and vendor renewal process to ensure vendor adherence to guidelines and expectations.
  • Gather data and run reports necessary to analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Collaborate with claims stakeholders to understand business needs and participate in the creation of vendor project plans.
  • Assist in the implementation of a reporting structure to analyze KPIs for vendor performance evaluation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for claims vendor service needs.
  • Prepare vendor performance success reports for key partners, senior leaders, and associates.
  • Manage and maintain the vendor database.
  • Maintain updated information on internal platforms to support departmental objectives.
  • Assist with departmental and organizational projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • 3-5 years of account management or property/casualty commercial insurance account management experience.
  • Associate level Claims or insurance experience.
  • Experience assisting with vendor onboarding, stewardship, and performance management.
  • Proven ability to resolve issues with multiple stakeholders and maintain effective relationship management.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable participating in meetings with various stakeholder levels.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Innovative thinking about customer service and providing efficient solutions.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision and work on a virtual team.
  • Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Self-starter with a bias toward action and strong sense of personal accountability for results.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement.
