About the position

The Account Manager I position at NBT Insurance involves managing small business accounts with a focus on customer service and sales. The role requires acting as an advocate for customers, ensuring their insurance needs are met while collaborating with the Business Development Manager and Producer to identify coverage gaps. The position emphasizes adherence to departmental procedures to maintain customer satisfaction and accurate responses.

Responsibilities

  • Perform customer service, sales, and management of assigned small business accounts under limited supervision.
  • Act as the customer's advocate between the customer and carrier regarding insurance coverage.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development Manager and/or Producer to identify potential coverage gaps and recommend the best offerings to customers.
  • Follow department procedures to ensure accurate responses and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform or oversee all key servicing aspects of assigned small business accounts, including new business and renewal submissions, coverage review, and policy changes.
  • Identify small business customer issues by listening, clarifying comments, and researching system files to provide accurate responses.
  • Participate in routine department and agency meetings, providing feedback to enhance customer experience and agency efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree and 3 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Property & Casualty Broker's license and/or Life, Accident, and Health license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and business writing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to analyze limited data and research problems.
  • Ability to work independently and in groups, organize and prioritize multiple assignments, and pay attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of basic insurance concepts.
