About the position

The Account Manager II - Inside at Lumen is a pivotal role focused on driving revenue growth within small to medium-sized customer accounts. This position emphasizes the importance of building long-term, consultative relationships with clients, primarily through technology rather than in-person interactions. The Account Manager II will work diligently to deepen and expand the relationship between Lumen and its named accounts, aiming to maximize revenue while minimizing account churn. This involves a proactive approach to understanding customer needs and aligning Lumen's solutions to meet those needs effectively. In this role, the Account Manager II is responsible for protecting base revenue and achieving growth quotas. Key responsibilities include identifying decision-makers within customer organizations, assessing their needs, and positioning appropriate solutions. The Account Manager will also be tasked with updating relevant customer information, including sales funnel activity, opportunity updates, and maintaining monthly goals, customer proposals, and contracts. Providing superior customer service is paramount, ensuring that every interaction enhances the customer experience and fosters loyalty. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of sales acumen and technical understanding, allowing them to effectively communicate the value of Lumen's offerings. This role is integral to Lumen's mission of connecting people, data, and applications, and requires a commitment to teamwork, trust, and transparency in all customer engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Protect base revenue and meet/exceed growth quota to maximize revenue within assigned customer accounts.
  • Identify decision makers and determine customer needs to position appropriate solutions.
  • Assess product fit and expand the product portfolio through customer relationships.
  • Update relevant customer information, including sales funnel activity and opportunity updates.
  • Maintain monthly goals, customer proposals, and customer contracts.
  • Provide superior customer service with every customer interaction.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent education and 2 years sales experience.
  • Prior account management experience with a history of working to retain and grow existing accounts.
  • Strong oral and written communication, analytical problem solving and closing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrated stable track record of success in an inside/outside sales role.
  • Advanced understanding of technology products and solutions and knowledge of how they are interrelated.
  • Passion for customer service and the desire to understand and introduce new technology to customer base.
  • Ability to function in an unscripted capacity, requiring solid interviewing, selling, and persuasion skills.
