As an outside sales Account Manager at Spencer Fluid Power, you will play a crucial role in driving sales and fostering customer relationships in the Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota territories. In this role, you will be responsible for achieving sales and profit goals by developing existing customer accounts, opening new business opportunities, and ensuring customer retention. You will conduct various sales and service activities, develop strong customer relationships, and introduce new products and services that enhance customer performance. Your ability to prepare quotes and proposals, negotiate terms, and close transactions will be essential to your success. Additionally, you will organize and conduct training sessions for customers, survey market conditions, and complete reports regarding your sales activities. The position requires a proactive approach to customer service, including monitoring customer complaints, following up on outstanding orders, and making emergency calls and deliveries as needed. Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales and profit goals by developing existing customers, opening new business, and ensuring customer retention.
  • Conduct sales and service activities, develop strong customer relationships, identify product applications, and introduce new products and services.
  • Partner with manufacturer representatives and support teams to help specify products and systems that enhance customer performance.
  • Prepare quotes and proposals, follow up and negotiate terms, and close transactions.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions for customers, survey market and competitive conditions.
  • Complete reports regarding itineraries, expenses, sales calls, leads, and other related reports.
  • Monitor customer complaints, follow up on outstanding orders, and make emergency calls and deliveries as required.

Requirements

  • 1+ year proven sales experience or recent engineering graduate with a sales mentality.
  • Knowledge of fluid power components, systems, and/or applications is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to open new business and develop relationships.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a self-starter with a strong desire to succeed and a sense of humor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proper English grammar.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record (MVR).
  • Fluid Power certification is a plus.
