About the position

The Account Manager - Outside Sales position at Greif Packaging LLC is a critical role focused on managing and expanding the company's customer base in the New England region, which includes Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The ideal candidate will be responsible for outside sales and services to both existing customers and prospective clients. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining existing business relationships while also seeking new sales opportunities. The Account Manager will be tasked with creating and soliciting price quotes, executing re-pricing actions for underperforming accounts, and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and account management. In this position, the Account Manager will collaborate closely with various functional areas within the company, including Production, Customer Service, Accounts Receivable, and Logistics, to deliver the best possible service to customers. The role involves creating detailed price quotes and delivering presentations to both internal and external stakeholders, showcasing samples and prototypes as needed. The Account Manager will also be responsible for maintaining relationships with the plants that service customers in their assigned territory, ensuring that all customer needs are met efficiently. The position may require the Account Manager to solicit requests for quotes and interface with plants to identify lost and new customer opportunities. Additionally, the role includes completing and updating sales-related paperwork and reporting systems, as well as performing other duties as assigned. This position is essential for driving sales growth and enhancing customer satisfaction within the New England market.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with existing customers and manages accounts to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains existing business by developing and presenting value propositions to existing customers.
  • Partners with colleagues in functional areas including Production, Customer Service, Accounts Receivable, and Logistics to provide the best customer service possible.
  • Interacts with and assists sales managers and/or directors in achieving sales goals.
  • Creates detailed price quotes.
  • Creates and delivers presentations to internal and external customers, along with samples and prototypes.
  • Completes and updates sales-related paperwork and reporting systems.
  • Maintains relationships with plants that service customers in the assigned territory, product area, or accounts.
  • Solicits requests for quotes as needed.
  • Executes re-pricing action for underperforming accounts when necessary.
  • Interfaces with plants to determine lost and new customer opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree and 4-8 years of experience in outside sales/business development.
  • Possesses solid sales experience; industrial sales experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Possesses excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Possesses analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to perform cold customer calls and follow up on leads.
