About the position

The Account Manager (Outside Sales) at Summit Electric Supply is responsible for cultivating long-term relationships with both new and established customers. This role requires a strong understanding of the company's products and services, exceptional customer service skills, and the ability to negotiate profitable pricing. The Account Manager will engage in solution selling, conduct regular visits to customer sites, and work collaboratively with the sales team to meet customer needs and drive sales performance.

Responsibilities

  • Understand all product benefits, warranties, and services offered by Summit.
  • Sell Summit products and services by calling on customer accounts.
  • Travel frequently to customer sites using a Summit vehicle or personal transportation.
  • Negotiate pricing with customers and suppliers to ensure profitability.
  • Provide timely and accurate quotes and respond to customer inquiries.
  • Exercise authority to determine customer pricing and maintain service standards.
  • Collaborate with customer service representatives to follow up on orders and customer needs.
  • Resolve customer concerns efficiently to encourage loyalty to Summit.
  • Assist in collecting funds from accounts payable when necessary.

Requirements

  • Significant sales and negotiating experience with an electrical supply distributor, manufacturer, or rep agency.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent time management skills to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to resolve complex business issues diplomatically and effectively.
  • Flexibility to adapt to change.
  • Clean driving record and current insurance.
  • Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

  • Quantifiable success in formulating sales strategies and driving sales performance.
  • Familiarity and a solid reputation for integrity and results with customers, competitors, and suppliers.
  • Successful experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP) and BI tools.
  • Completion of EPEC Silver and/or Gold.
