About the position

Tri-State Valve is looking for a dynamic Account Manager/Outside Sales Representative to build and maintain client relationships in an assigned territory. This role focuses on understanding customer needs and promoting solutions to enhance satisfaction. The successful candidate will engage with customers both remotely and in-person, collaborating with internal teams to deliver effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with customers to understand their processes and product needs.
  • Meet with key personnel regularly, developing and documenting priorities for each customer.
  • Maintain a weekly call report, identify areas for increased sales, and defend existing business.
  • Ensure friendly, professional, and solution-oriented communication with all customers.
  • Develop and maintain an A, B, C customer list, documenting interactions and preferences.
  • Build and maintain contact lists and SWOT analyses for major clients.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to understand products, gather competitive information, and stay updated on market trends.
  • Travel to customer facilities to inspect valves, climb vertical ladders, work in elevated areas, and interpret technical information.
  • Provide technical expertise to clients on all products represented by Tri-State Valve.
  • Respond to audible emergency alerts and be available for overnight travel as needed.
  • Work with Inside Sales to create quotes that maximize profitability.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and profit improvement.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of related sales experience, preferably in industrial or technical sales.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, self-starter attitude, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, define problems, and develop effective solutions.
