About the position

The Account Manager/Outside Sales position at Airgas involves representing the company's diverse product lines in the compressed gas industry to both new and existing customers. The role focuses on developing and maintaining sales relationships, identifying prospective customers, and increasing sales and margin profit through effective account management and strategic market analysis. The position requires collaboration with the Area Sales Manager to implement sales strategies and ensure sales objectives are met within budget while adhering to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the company's product lines to new prospects and existing customers.
  • Develop and maintain sales relationships with assigned accounts within a territory.
  • Identify and qualify prospective customers within the assigned area or territory.
  • Increase sales and margin profit through penetration to assigned accounts and by closing new accounts.
  • Act as a liaison between customer and company regarding pricing, products, delivery information, payments, service, and inquiries.
  • Research and analyze market data to determine new customers and sales volume potential.
  • Prepare and analyze sales reports to identify cause and effect relationships due to various factors.
  • Quote prices and prepare sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Estimate delivery dates to customers based on production and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain current product knowledge through training and involvement with trade organizations.
  • Collaborate with Area Sales Manager to develop and implement market plan and sales strategy.
  • Ensure sales objectives are met within the established budget and control expenses.
  • Complete all reports accurately and timely.
  • Work safely and meet the requirements of all company safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Two years of outside sales experience preferred.
  • Self-motivated individual with positive interpersonal skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and/or Google Kite Business Platform.
  • Professional presence and demeanor reflective of a corporate image.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective speaking skills before groups of customers or associates.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and commissions.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in various situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in different forms.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the area.
