About the position

The Account Manager at Relation Insurance is responsible for managing client relationships and addressing their technical and complex insurance needs to ensure high client retention. This role involves full binding authority with various insurance companies and requires staying updated on industry advancements and insurance products.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as main point of contact for the client.
  • Assists with the strategic design of insurance plans for clients.
  • Acts as field underwriter and authorized representative of the insurance carriers to determine coverage binding.
  • Binds coverage as appropriate.
  • Strategically assists in the remarketing of renewals to ensure high account retention.
  • Oversees the preparation of proposals for clients, including submissions, loss evaluations, and risk analysis.
  • Prepares summaries of insurance and schedules.
  • Supports client needs by producing binders, certificates, policies, endorsements, and other related items accurately.
  • Assures policies are accurate and renewed in a timely manner.
  • Assists clients in submitting first reports of claims by obtaining adjusters or arranging visits from claims team members.
  • Reviews policy audits and verifies their accuracy.
  • Reviews cancellations and determines reasons for cancellation requests, attempting to save client accounts as appropriate.
  • Stays abreast of industry information, new products, legislation, coverage, and technology.
  • Recommends process improvements as needed.
  • Quickly identifies and resolves complex client service issues.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Property and Casualty License from state of domicile is required and must be maintained.
  • Preference for individuals with insurance designations (e.g. CISR, CIC, CPCU).
  • College degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years' account management experience in the insurance industry in personal lines of coverage is required.
  • In-depth understanding of advanced personal lines of coverage with the ability to advise clients on complex insurance needs.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel and Word).
  • Must be computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Personal Lines experience is helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to maintain effective relationships with clients, co-workers, carriers, vendors, and others.
