About the position

The Museum of Science strives to equip and inspire everyone to use science for the global good while keeping up with the pace of change. As the Lead Contact for Social Events, you will act as the ambassador and primary client contact for social events, primarily weddings, providing exceptional customer service from initial contact to event day to meet revenue and satisfaction goals. You will develop and execute a strategic sales plan to secure social event bookings, with a target of upwards of $400k annually. This role involves managing the sales, planning, and operational aspects of each social event, ensuring a seamless client experience. You will collaborate closely with internal departments and external vendors to ensure flawless execution of event details, while also maintaining comprehensive records in the event sales database to support seamless transitions and personalized client experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Lead Contact for Social Events, acting as the ambassador and primary client contact for social events, primarily weddings.
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to secure social event bookings, targeting upwards of $400k annually.
  • Handle incoming client inquiries, provide timely responses to RFPs, and conduct site tours weekly to generate new business.
  • Manage the sales, planning, and operational aspects of each social event, including floor plan creation, vendor coordination, staffing, and event flow.
  • Coordinate closely with the catering sales manager, internal departments, and external vendors to ensure flawless execution of event details.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records in the event sales database to support seamless transitions and repeat business.
  • Build and maintain a network of local vendors, developing a curated list of recommendations for clients.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates a commitment to high-quality customer service, with the ability to anticipate client needs and deliver a polished experience.
  • Experienced in outbound sales and prospecting with a focus on meeting revenue targets.
  • Skilled in event planning and logistics, capable of overseeing all aspects of social events.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring that all aspects of each event are documented and executed with precision.
  • Articulate in both written and oral communication, maintaining clear communication with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Knowledgeable in food industry trends and fine dining service standards, with experience in wedding event planning.
