About the position

The Account Manager for Vehicle Systems at Smithers MSE Inc. is responsible for developing a pipeline of ongoing and new business within the automotive sector. This role focuses on leveraging existing assets and expertise in third-party testing and consulting, ensuring effective communication with clients and internal stakeholders, and developing a deep understanding of Smithers' testing service lines. The Account Manager will also create customer value propositions and engage in various sales activities to drive business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a pipeline of ongoing and new business in the assigned market.
  • Target and acquire new clients through prospecting and discovery.
  • Sell third-party testing services and comprehend complex science-based issues.
  • Engage in product development within the automotive industry, specifically with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Interpret and apply testing standards to design and execute testing programs.
  • Utilize a CRM system to track and manage leads, contacts, and opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative selling culture with peers and business managers.
  • Close new business deals by coordinating requirements and negotiating contracts.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of client-facing presentation materials.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and oversee service delivery.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service and client satisfaction.
  • Identify trends in the marketplace and competitive situations.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience in service sales or consulting in the automotive industry.
  • Experience working with automotive OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Strong written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage with executives and technical staff effectively.
  • Familiarity with product development lifecycles and industry stage-gates (DV&R and PPAP).
  • Experience utilizing CRM software for managing client relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in laboratory settings related to automotive testing.
  • Knowledge of vehicle testing services and component testing.
