About the position

The Account Manager at Proofpoint is responsible for managing relationships with existing customers and driving sales of the company's cybersecurity solutions. This role involves working closely with corporate sales engineers and engaging with large mid-market organizations, focusing on establishing strong business relationships at the executive level. The position requires a consultative approach to identify customer needs, manage the sales process from opportunity identification to closing, and provide exceptional customer service. The Account Manager will also collaborate with the sales engineering team and channel partners to develop account strategies and drive revenue growth.

Responsibilities

  • Work with existing customers to identify additional solutions from the Proofpoint portfolio.
  • Drive the entire sales process from start to finish, including opportunity identification, product demonstration, and closing.
  • Develop and utilize effective close plans to manage the sales process.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Engineering team to devise and execute account strategies.
  • Engage with channel partners to educate and drive incremental revenue.
  • Interact with management for updates and strategic account planning.
  • Provide high-touch customer service and coordinate support issues as needed.
  • Stay informed about Proofpoint products and the cybersecurity industry.
  • Coach and develop newer team members and participate in the interview process.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of successful inside or field solution sales experience generating new and/or add-on revenue.
  • Experience selling to IT departments and navigating mid to large size organizations.
  • Experience selling to C-suite executives, including CISO, CIO, and CTO.
  • Strong technical aptitude, preferably with a focus on Security/Compliance.
  • Proven negotiation skills in a complex sales process.
  • Above average written and verbal communication skills to articulate Proofpoint's value proposition.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and process-oriented.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Willingness to take on leadership responsibilities as needed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and resolve difficult issues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CRM, and web conferencing tools.
  • BA/BS or equivalent preferred.
