About the position

As an Account Manager at Smurfit Westrock, you will act as a key liaison between Corporate Accounts, Strategic Regional Accounts, and customer locations, providing specialized support to enhance customer service and address critical business needs. This role emphasizes a value-based selling approach, ensuring that customer requirements align with business objectives while fostering strong internal and external relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the liaison between Smurfit Westrock and customers to support supplier plants in improving overall customer service.
  • Create project plans and oversee end-to-end development of customer specifications, logistics, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure customer needs are met while aligning with MD business objectives.
  • Assist with budget development and management cross-functionally with Sales and Financial Managers.
  • Develop an understanding of customers’ market landscape to proactively identify opportunities for added value and efficiency improvements.
  • Manage both internal and external customer relationships, providing value-added sales and service support solutions.
  • Complete and develop Opportunity Plans that align with Corporate Account’s Key Account Profiles (KAP’s).
  • Review Opportunity Plans with VP Sales on a regular basis.
  • Partner with production, manufacturing, and account teams to ensure customer needs are properly communicated.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience in sales, project management, and/or technical training.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in corrugated sales preferred.
  • Broad understanding of different types of equipment and technical capabilities related to the packaging industry.
  • Proven experience with packaging systems.
  • Demonstrated sales competence and business acumen.
  • Ability to provide clarity to complex problems and develop long-term solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines and interact effectively with people from varying functions and levels.
  • Possess effective leadership qualities and insightful business judgment.
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
