About the position

The Account Manager at Sheffield Metals is responsible for driving revenue growth through proactive sales strategies, focusing on educating customers about the company's engineered metal roofing systems. This role emphasizes a technical sales approach and aims to achieve optimal sales margins while expanding market share within a designated territory. The Account Manager will engage in field visits, phone outreach, and other communication methods to cultivate new relationships and nurture existing partnerships, ultimately converting prospects into clients and upselling additional products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Sell products and services within an assigned territory using a consultative approach through field visits and telephone sales.
  • Understand customer needs and provide solutions that meet those requirements.
  • Effectively prospect, generate leads, and manage relationships from initiation to close of sales.
  • Prepare and present professional proposals to aid in closing business.
  • Partner with inside sales, management, and technical departments to achieve customer retention goals.
  • Collaborate with multiple functions to act on customer feedback with urgency.
  • Utilize the company's CRM system, NetSuite, to maintain call records and customer account information.
  • Promote services and training programs that assist customers with their architectural and machinery needs.
  • Work with Region Managers and National Account Managers to develop and achieve segment targets and goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of the competitive landscape and current industry standards.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of prior industrial, construction, or related industry outside sales experience with a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals.
  • Experience in metal roofing products is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing that meets company requirements.
  • Strong organizational abilities and experience utilizing a CRM system for business information tracking.
  • Ability to lift or pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and strong analytical, conceptual, and planning skills.
  • Excellent math skills and overall PC literacy (Microsoft Office).
