About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing incoming payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding accounts. This role requires strong attention to detail and proficiency in accounting principles, as well as familiarity with financial software such as Sage.

Responsibilities

  • Process and record incoming payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain and reconcile accounts receivable records, ensuring all transactions are documented correctly.
  • Prepare and send invoices to clients, following up on outstanding balances as necessary.
  • Assist in the negotiation of payment terms with clients to facilitate timely collections.
  • Utilize double entry bookkeeping methods to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Code transactions appropriately for accounting purposes, adhering to established financial concepts.
  • Perform data entry tasks related to accounts receivable, ensuring all information is up-to-date and accurate.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve overall financial processes.
  • Stay informed about medical terminology relevant to billing practices within the healthcare sector.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Accounts Receivable Clerk or similar role within an accounting department.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts and double entry bookkeeping principles.
  • Excellent data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with clients regarding payment terms and outstanding balances.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
