About the position

The University of Cincinnati is seeking a full-time Accountant 1 for the Office of Accounting & Finance within the College of Medicine. This position is integral to the management of the organization's financial affairs, performing essential accounting functions that include ledger and fund analysis, cost analysis, and budget reconciliation. The Accountant will be responsible for preparing and posting accounting documents, invoicing customers, and managing collections. This role is designed for individuals who are detail-oriented and possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. In this role, the Accountant will set up and maintain billing codes, invoice customers, and follow up on outstanding accounts receivables. They will also maintain routine account journals and prepare basic financial statements. Monitoring and interpreting financial data will be crucial for developing cost analysis and reports. The Accountant will analyze, establish, and maintain accounting systems, and may also process purchase requisitions, invoices, and change orders. Internal auditing of financial records may be required, along with the preparation of financial and statistical analysis reports. The Accountant will recommend accounting and control systems and perform related duties as needed by the department. This position allows for remote work once training is completed, providing flexibility in the work environment.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience or specialized training in lieu of education requirement.
  • Experience with fund accounting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in SAP financial software is required.
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft products.
