About the position

The Accountant 2 position at Miami-Dade County involves professional accounting work specifically for the Police Department's Grants & Trust Funds Unit. Responsibilities

  • Manage budget and projections for the Grants & Trust Funds Unit.
  • Record accounts receivable and payable transactions.
  • Monitor grant and allocation balances.
  • Perform reconciliations of accounts.
  • Review expenditure and purchase requests for compliance with funding requirements.
  • Review and process invoices.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports.
  • Assist with audit processes.
  • Work extra hours in the months leading up to year-end closing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and one year of accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree with 9 semester credits in Accounting and one year of accounting experience.
  • One year of satisfactory performance as an Accountant 1 in the County service.
  • Five years of Accounting experience may substitute for the required four years of college education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience in grants and trust funds accounting.
  • Familiarity with applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
