About the position
The Accountant 2 position at University Legacy Staffing Services is primarily focused on leading, advising, and supporting the Procurement and Accounts Payable departments in accounting and reconciliation of expenditures. The role ensures compliance with federal requirements and regulations, overseeing financial activities related to various accounts, and implementing proactive measures to maintain financial integrity.
Responsibilities
- Establish, maintain and administer accounts payable accounting under general direction.
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure the smooth flow of confidential data.
- Perform an analytical review of accounts and provide written descriptions for variances outside of the norm.
- Maintain and prepare financial statements, journals, ledgers, and other complex financial reports.
- Coordinate with others on internal audits of accounts payable services.
- Oversee customer service associated with outstanding payments and inquiries regarding the ePayables program.
- Provide expertise and recommendations in preparing annual budget and projects for year-end account balances.
- Monitor for any potential issues/trends and make recommendations for change or improvement.
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of related work experience in accounting or finance.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required.
- Solid understanding of budgeting and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounts payable operations, analysis, and reconciliation.
- Strong analytical skills and great organizational and communication skills.
- Superior attention to detail and accuracy, and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting, SOX compliance, and accounts payable.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft is highly desirable.
