About the position

The Accountant, Acquisitions and Dispositions at Tricon Residential plays a crucial role in the Accounting Department, focusing on the management of acquisition and disposition accounting activities. This position involves reviewing wire request documents, preparing journal entries, and coordinating with the disposition team to ensure accurate accounting for property transactions. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in accounting software, particularly Excel, to support the company's growth in the rental housing market.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day acquisition and disposition accounting activities.
• Review wire request documents and flag discrepancies in accounting systems.
• Upload wire data to banking partners.
• Prepare and upload daily acquisition activity journal entries for management approvals/postings.
• Review HUDs for planned dispositions and confirm property sales with the disposition team.
• Prepare and upload disposition activity journal entries.
• Complete bank reconciliations and maintain working papers in Excel.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Conduct research on accounting transactions, including month-over-month variance analysis.
• Assist with audit requests and preparation of schedules/reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles.
• Proficient in multi-modules accounting software (GL, AR, AP, etc.).
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLookups, and XLookups.
• Prior property management or mortgage/escrow experience required.
• Knowledge of technical accounting principles.
• Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of Yardi and Triad accounting software would be a plus.
