About the position

The Accountant Analyst position supports the Missile Defense Agency in Huntsville, AL, focusing on Department of Defense (DoD) accounting. The role involves documenting and maintaining financial management processes, performing internal controls testing, and assisting government accountants with various accounting tasks. The candidate will also troubleshoot issues related to daily operations and contribute to the development of corrective action plans for internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Document, edit, and maintain end-to-end financial management process narratives.
• Perform internal controls testing of controls documented in the process narratives.
• Populate and maintain internal controls documentation repositories with results and supporting evidence.
• Develop and track Corrective Action Plans related to internal controls testing.
• Assist Government accountants with other accounting tasks as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in regard to day-to-day execution and beyond daily duties.

Requirements

• BS/BA in Accounting, business or related field.
• Established knowledge of Excel and MS Office suite.
• Understanding of general federal government Accounting processes.
• Working knowledge of Accounting and IT audit methodologies, concepts, tools, and objectives.
• Working knowledge of conducting risk assessment and internal controls testing.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to work in a Team environment in-office and remotely.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance upon hire date; an active secret clearance is a plus.
