About the position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage our financial records and ensure compliance with US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). This is a full-time, remote position, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to the financial management of a growing tech company while enjoying the flexibility of working from home.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts in accordance with US GAAP.
- Perform daily bookkeeping tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
- Prepare accurate financial statements, reports, and balance sheets, ensuring compliance with US GAAP standards.
- Lead monthly and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded.
- Support the preparation of tax filings (sales tax, income tax) and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist in budget creation, tracking, and forecasting financial performance against budget goals.
- Prepare and support internal and external audits, ensuring all requested documentation is readily available.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, resolving discrepancies as they arise.
- Suggest and implement improvements to financial processes and systems for greater efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Accountant or Bookkeeper with a strong understanding of US GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online) and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote work environment.
- Knowledge of payroll processing and tax compliance is a plus.
- Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; certification (e.g., CPA or CMA) is a plus but not required.
