The Accountant/CPA position at Hinkle Law Firm LLC is a critical role that requires independent judgment and the ability to manage diverse workloads effectively. This position is non-exempt and involves direct interaction with clients, necessitating strong communication skills and a commitment to maintaining positive client relationships. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with problem-solving abilities, capable of navigating the complexities of tax compliance and planning in a multistate environment. The role demands a proactive approach to maintaining visibility in the Estate and Trust community, as well as the cultivation of existing and new business relationships. In this position, the accountant/CPA will be responsible for coordinating tax compliance and planning responsibilities, advising clients on Estate and Trust matters, and performing extensive tax compliance, research, consulting, and planning for various tax types including individual, fiduciary, not-for-profit, gift, and estate tax. The candidate will need to demonstrate technical expertise in fiduciary accounting concepts and provide seamless, integrated services to clients. Strong project management skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate critical information clearly and concisely, adhering to company policies and procedures. The work schedule is structured as a 9-hour day from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays being a shorter day, and overtime may be required as needed. The firm values punctuality and attendance, expecting the candidate to maintain an acceptable level of both. Overall, this position is designed for a self-starter who is highly organized and motivated to succeed in a dynamic legal environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating tax compliance and planning responsibilities for a multistate environment.
  • Maintaining visibility in the Estate and Trust community.
  • Maintaining existing business relationships and cultivating new ones.
  • Advising clients in Estate and Trust matters.
  • Performing extensive tax compliance, research, consulting, and planning for individual, fiduciary, not-for-profit, gift, and estate tax.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience with a public accounting and/or professional services firm or law firm.
  • CPA required.
  • MST is a plus.
  • Prefer Valuation Certification.
  • Experience providing gift and estate planning strategies to high-net-worth clients.
  • Experience in working with estate tax, gift tax, and fiduciary income tax returns.
  • Knowledge of fiduciary accounting concepts.
  • Technical expertise in relevant areas.
