About the position

Knife River is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team in Central Point, OR. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the accounting department in various financial activities. Responsibilities

• Preparation of journal entries, including all appropriate back-up information
• Preparation of detailed general ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations
• Record financial and inventory transactions
• Assist in the preparation of inventory valuations
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Maintain a current working knowledge of applicable accounting and financial statement requirements, disclosures and preparation methods
• Assist in research, analysis and evaluation of existing and/or proposed accounting principles
• Provide assistance and analysis on special projects or other financial activities, as needed
• Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proven knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Excel
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervisory oversight while accomplishing targeted objectives
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Strong analytical and financial skills
• High ethical and moral standards
• Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team

Nice-to-haves

• Accounting experience in a construction industry setting.
