About the position

The position involves performing accounting and reporting duties primarily focused on the accounting close process at Freeport-McMoRan, a leading international mining company. The role requires attention to detail and good organizational skills, as it includes recording journal entries, performing financial analysis, and account reconciliations. The successful candidate will apply their knowledge of accounting policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks and assist in various accounting and reporting activities.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned duties as part of the accounting close process.
• Record journal entries and perform financial analysis and account reconciliations.
• Apply knowledge of accounting policies and procedures to assigned tasks.
• Perform analysis and reconciliation through system queries and research.
• Analyze, interpret, and communicate any action items or variances identified in the month-end close process to the supervisor.
• Assist in accounting and reporting activities and special projects as assigned.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED and four (4) years professional experience in accounting, including two (2) years in prolonged intellectual instruction in Accounting or Finance; OR
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area and two (2) years professional experience in accounting; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related area.
