About the position

The position involves performing professional and technical accounting and financial duties for a County Division. Key responsibilities include preparing and maintaining budgetary, accounting, financial, and statistical records, as well as reviewing and analyzing financial transactions. The role may also involve grant applications, financial reports, and budget documents, along with managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, and administer the Division budget.
  • Analyze historical costs and project future financial needs.
  • Prepare the annual budget for the division and administer the approved budget.
  • Monitor expenditures and prepare budget reports and amendments as necessary.
  • Perform accounts receivable functions including preparing invoices and reconciling payments.
  • Maintain accounts receivable records and prepare bank deposits.
  • Conduct data entry for accounting operations and verify accuracy.
  • Prepare various financial and accounting records and reports.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on financial operations practices and procedures.
  • Provide audit and QA/QC of procurement and accounts payable matters.
  • Train and guide client Divisions on financial processes from requisitioning to payment.
  • Perform accounts payable functions including preparing purchase orders and invoices for payment authorization.
  • Maintain accounts payable ledger and records.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain automated and manual accounting records.
  • Conduct internal reviews and audits to ensure compliance with budget and policies.
  • Prepare financial reports including revenue and expenditure reports and executive summaries.
  • Assist with the annual audit by providing information and documentation to auditors.
  • Maintain inventory records of division equipment and order office supplies as necessary.
  • Prepare authorization requests for facilities repair and maintenance.
  • Maintain Division OSHA reporting information and submit to Risk Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required.
  • One (1) year of related experience preferred.
  • Candidates without a related degree should possess four (4) years of related experience.
  • Fingerprinting required.
