About the position

The Accountant II - Industrial position at Veolia North America involves performing professional accounting duties and analyzing financial data to support various accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cost Accounting, Property Accounting, and General Accounting. The role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports.
  • Prepares month-end closing journal vouchers, schedules, FRS, trial balance, and cost center reports.
  • Prepares annual reports such as auto mileage, expense reports, relocation expenses, and fixed asset physical inventory.
  • Reconciles and analyzes assigned accounts, identifying and recommending alternative accounting treatments.
  • Performs review of payroll distribution, foreign currency transactions, and management fees, ensuring accurate classifications and reporting variances.
  • Assists with the implementation of accounting systems, methods, procedures, and controls, ensuring data integrity.
  • Performs fixed asset accounting, ensuring accurate site codes, cost centers, and asset lives.
  • Prepares inter-company billing and reconciliation, monitoring account balances to reduce negative working capital impact.
  • Audits accounts payable checks, verifying supporting documents and authorization levels.
  • Identifies and reports compliance issues with internal controls, recommending improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in one or more areas of accounting with demonstrated ability to apply accounting theory, principles, and techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience with accounting module implementation in financial systems.
