About the position

The Accountant II position at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is a professional role within the Lubar College of Business Dean's Office. The incumbent will serve as the primary accountant for the College, responsible for budgeting, fiscal transaction analysis, financial analysis, and reporting services. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy of financial data, which directly impacts the College's operations and programs. The position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently while supervising student employees and leading financial specialists.

Responsibilities

• Perform budgeting and fiscal transaction analysis for the College.
• Conduct financial analysis and prepare reports for various funding sources.
• Act as the lead worker for Financial Specialists and supervise student employees.
• Ensure accuracy in financial reporting to prevent errors that could impact the College.
• Manage the College's budget, including GPR, program revenue, tuition differentials, and gift and grant funding.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
• At least one year of related experience in accounting or finance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated attention to detail in accounting practices.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and customer service skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Three years or more of related professional work experience.
• Experience working in the University of Wisconsin system.
• Experience with budgets or financial reporting and analysis.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Fund accounting experience.
