About the position

The Accountant II position at iHeartMedia is a hybrid role that involves significant ownership and impact in the accounting process. The role requires collaboration with the Accounting and Finance teams to transform financial data into actionable insights, manage P&L responsibilities, and ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner and problem solver, committed to continuous improvement and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Accounting Team and Finance partners to transform financial data into actionable information and insights.
  • Manage full P&L responsibility for supported lines of business, including recording accounting transactions and explaining variances to forecast and budget.
  • Own balance sheet reconciliations, preparing executive summaries and resolving open items to ensure accuracy.
  • Connect transactions to their impact on the P&L and balance sheet.
  • Identify and communicate issues to supervisors, proposing solutions as needed.
  • Provide internal and external audit support, ensuring documentation is complete and demonstrates an adequate audit trail.
  • Assist in preparing footnote disclosures and supporting schedules for Corporate Accounting.
  • Participate in special projects and cross-functional teams as assigned.
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and develop expertise in iHM's accounting systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and 3-5 years of relevant accrual-based accounting experience required.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, and v-lookup functions.
  • Experience with financial systems such as COGNOS, NetSuite, or Peoplesoft.
  • Effective communication skills across multiple levels of the organization, both written and oral.
  • Ability to balance big picture thinking with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong customer service skills and commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Experience in team and project management for mid-sized projects.
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate risk.
  • Confidence to solve complex problems using multiple sources of information.
