About the position

The Accountant II position at Shaw Industries involves maintaining the flow, accuracy, and integrity of plant raw material inventories, including resin, concentrates, waste, finish, and packaging materials. The role includes performing monthly reconciliations of raw and finished material accounts, assisting with variance projections, monthly closings, and budget revisions, and compiling weekly Plant Operating Variance Analysis (POVA) reports.

Responsibilities

• Generate weekly raw material inventory flows using purchases, transfers, returns, adjustments, and ending inventory to determine usage and cost.
• Investigate whether usage falls within acceptable projections and establish actions to resolve discrepancies.
• Review raw material handling procedures to ensure compliance with existing standards.
• Provide weekly material usage information to the Accounting Clerk for POVA incorporation.
• Balance and reconcile raw material inventories to the general ledger monthly using weekly flow information.
• Coordinate with Corporate Accounting to resolve discrepancies with raw material receipts.
• Create and analyze monthly material consumption reports from the IMPACT Accounting System.
• Investigate discrepancies and make necessary changes.
• Generate usage entry and finalize account balancing.
• Compile and analyze weekly production waste to calculate pounds over/under standard flow.
• Conduct IE frequency studies, work sampling studies, and other plant audits as needed.
• Assist the Accountant with financial variance projections and monthly financial closings, working independently as needed.
• Perform the responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk as needed.
• Provide clerical or administrative support for the Accounting and IE departments.
• Comply with procedures found in the Shaw Management System (SMS).

Requirements

• Four (4) year degree preferred.
• Previous Accounting experience is preferred.
• Two (2) years of experience in a clerical or office environment is preferred.
