About the position
The Finance team at Thermo Fisher Scientific plays a crucial role in supporting the company's position as a trusted industry leader through informed decision-making. This position focuses on providing finance, accounting, and compliance support to the Production Chemicals and Services business, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting while implementing controls and compliance procedures. The role involves collaboration with internal and external audit teams and key business partners to drive business decisions and operational improvements.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly closing activities including journal entries, accruals, reporting, and analysis.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, company policy, approval authority matrix, and standard operating procedures; recommend changes to strengthen control environment.
- Carry out sophisticated accounting treatment and prepare financial documents and supplementary reporting.
- Support internal and external audit requirements and exercise sound data stewardship by following data policies.
- Drive continuous improvement and use systems to increase controls and efficiencies.
- Ensure effective data security and controls within ERP, financial systems, and data flows.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of finance and accounting experience.
- Excellent understanding of financial accounting standards and internal controls.
- Proficient user of Excel; experience with Infor A+ ERP (or equivalent), PowerPoint, and Hyperion is desired.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
