About the position

The Accountant - International at Invenergy is responsible for maintaining accounting and reporting for various affiliate entities. This role ensures the timely and accurate integration of financial results into consolidated statements, coordinating with local accountants to analyze monthly activities and convert data to US GAAP standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain relationship with international, third-party accounting providers and analyze the financial data provided to Invenergy related to their affiliates
  • Identify and implement process improvements and documentation updates with accounting providers to eliminate manual processes
  • Review and map local trial balances to the consolidated ledger, including US GAAP adjustments and other recurring journal entries, for upload to Invenergy's ERP system
  • Participate in the funding of international entities by creating disbursements and obtaining required approvals
  • Perform reconciliations between ERP system and sub-systems for relevant legal entities
  • Assist in and be a resource to audits of international entities in order to ensure information is being properly communicated and deadlines are met
  • Analyze intercompany relationships to ensure international consolidation points are eliminating appropriately
  • Establish, document, and maintain the control environment related for the relevant international entities throughout the project life cycle
  • Understand differences between US GAAP and foreign accounting principles (Ex. IFRS)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience
  • Existing understanding and knowledge of GAAP
  • Familiarity with Excel and other Microsoft Office products is required
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluent in Spanish is preferred
  • International accounting experience with responsibilities similar to the above
  • Work with Third Party Accounting Providers
  • Multi-Site Organization or Public accounting firm experience preferred
  • Experience in power plants or utilities is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Oracle is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to adhere to monthly, quarterly and annual department driven deadlines
  • Strong coordination / organization skills with attentiveness to timelines
  • Understanding of variance / trend analysis with actual/budget/historical results
  • Strong interpersonal skills - able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Responsible, dependable and possessing an exceptional work ethic
