About the position

Idaho Power, located in vibrant Boise, Idaho, is seeking an Accountant or Senior Accountant to join our Financial Accounting team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of the financial statements of IDACORP and its subsidiaries. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing timely, high-quality workpapers that support the preparation and/or review of journal entries. They will verify the accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of accounting entries through the preparation and/or review of journal entries and account reconciliations. Additionally, the role involves analyzing, interpreting, and applying a wide variety of accounting standards as promulgated by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The Accountant or Senior Accountant will prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly, or annual financial reports for internal and external reporting, including reports for the FERC, Idaho Public Utilities Commission, and Oregon Public Utilities Commission. Compliance with all pertinent Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation and requirements is essential, and the candidate will act as a control owner where applicable. The position requires close collaboration with all Business Units to support any accounting needs and provide advice on accounting issues. Idaho Power offers a competitive pay range of $75,233.60 - $109,116.80, along with work-life balance, an employee incentive plan, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan. The position is based at Idaho Power's downtown Boise location, with flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote. Responsibilities

  • Prepares timely, high-quality workpapers that support the preparation and/or review of journal entries.
  • Verifies accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness of accounting entries through the preparation and/or review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Analyzes, interprets, and applies a wide variety of accounting standards as promulgated by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
  • Prepares and/or reviews monthly, quarterly, or annual financial reports for internal and external reporting (FERC, Idaho Public Utilities Commission, Oregon Public Utilities Commission, etc.).
  • Maintains and ensures compliance with all pertinent Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) documentation and requirements; acts as a control owner where applicable.
  • Works closely with all Business Units to support any accounting needs and advise on accounting issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment or in public accounting for Accountant position.
  • 5 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment or in public accounting for Senior Accountant position, or a combination of 4 years of experience with an advanced degree, CPA license, or CMA certification.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting principles and theory in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.
  • Experience with accounting software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
  • Experience with Peoplesoft.
  • Ability to write and review query parameters to obtain financial data within subledger accounting systems.
