This is an amazing opportunity to work as a Property Tax Accountant for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This position is part of a team of seasoned property tax accountants who manage the property taxes of Church owned properties in the United States and Canada. An ideal candidate for this position will have strong people skills who have the ability to work with management and all levels of our organization. Well founded accounting experience and exposure to property tax would be helpful in this position. Experience working with databases is beneficial. A typical day in this role involves gathering tax assessments, authorizing, and paying tax bills, entering data into a database, using Excel and Outlook, scanning, processing mail and performing simple analytics. This work has a seasonal fluctuation, and Fall is our peak season. This role will combine an understanding of Church organization, culture, and interests with seasoned industry-level technical expertise in work related to property tax. This role assists in preparing and reviewing required property tax returns and related statements or records. Maintains records of property tax assessments and tax payments. Recommends financial actions that may lessen the organization's tax liability while meeting organizational goals and maintaining compliance with laws and regulations. Researches and suggests responses to changes in tax laws, regulations, and guidelines. Assists with audits as needed. Performs work under minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. May lead the work of others in the absence of the supervisor or manager and provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
