About the position

The Accountant position at Northern Oklahoma College is responsible for providing financial information to management through research and analysis of accounting data, report preparation, and maintenance of internal controls. This full-time role involves monitoring financial transactions and ensuring compliance with various financial regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with internal and external audits including preparing audit papers, journal entries and other required documentation
  • Monitor budgets and approval of expenditures of auxiliary fund activity
  • Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents and assist with auditing claims
  • Reconcile various financial programs with financial aid and scholarship departments
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Compile and prepare financial information for the Athletic Analysis Report
  • Compile and prepare State and Federal reports including IPEDS, SRA6 and other reports
  • Prepare travel reimbursement for all campuses
  • Schedule EFT and wire transfers for student refunds and payroll
  • Enter daily deposits on Peoplesoft into OMES system
  • Post student receivable receipts in J1 system
  • Prepare monthly state sales tax
  • Process settlement of UC facility usage fees
  • Prepare monthly auxiliary financial report
  • Allocate fleet charges
  • Maintain job manual for position with regular updates
  • Assist other areas in the Office of Financial Affairs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or relevant area
  • Minimum of three years experience with complete accounting cycle in higher education
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong organizational and management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet flexible deadlines
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
