About the position

The Accountant position at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital is a full-time role focused on ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance within the healthcare environment. The role involves daily cash reconciliation, month-end closing processes, and supporting the financial operations of the hospital. The Accountant will work closely with the Assist Controller and Senior Accountant to maintain financial integrity and assist with various accounting functions.

Responsibilities

  • Daily reconciliation of cash for use in DOR and report discrepancies to Assist Controller.
  • Reconcile all cash accounts with supporting documentation.
  • Review and approve all PAS month-end reconciliations.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Reconcile and post all entries related to the Medical Office Building.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation of legal accounts with supporting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly schedule of third-party related schedules.
  • Prepare unclaimed property letters, schedules, and entries as needed.
  • Calculate and file sales tax liability monthly.
  • Perform quarterly petty cash audits.
  • Assist Controller with gathering documentation for SOX compliance.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable functions as needed.
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects including gathering information for tangible personal property, cost reports, and year-end audits.
  • Prepare and post assigned month-end entries.
  • Assist Senior Accountant in posting departmental statistics into QMIRS.
  • Close Meditech System on the 1st of every month.
  • Assist Controller in end-of-month schedules.
  • Organize monthly journal entry book by the 10th.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of general accounting experience.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Flexibility to work one weekend a month to complete month-end close.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Meditech software.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance.
