About the position

The position involves ensuring public safety and preparing individuals for successful reentry into communities by managing financial data and reporting within a correctional institution. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to provide accurate financial statements and reports, while also maintaining the security of the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely output of accounting data from the Financial Management Information System (FMIS).
  • Supply timely and accurate financial statements and fund status reports.
  • Provide expertise on manual FMIS entries using over five-hundred transaction codes.
  • Interpret accounting report statements and data to identify trends and deviations.
  • Assist management officials in applying financial data to management problems.
  • Maintain security of the institution as a primary responsibility.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Degree in accounting or a related field with 24 semester hours in accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement for GL-07, or 2 years for GL-09.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service.

  • Experience in managing operating programs and supplying accurate financial statements.
  • Experience in ensuring efficient control and reporting of funds.
  • Experience in reconciling and balancing general ledger accounts.
