About the position

The Accountant position at the Las Vegas Valley Water District involves performing professional accounting duties related to the preparation and maintenance of financial records for various funds. The role requires analyzing and evaluating accounting documents, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and preparing accurate financial reports. The ideal candidate will have experience in governmental accounting, particularly with state and federal grant accounting, and will be responsible for coordinating audits and managing financial records for multiple entities.

Responsibilities

• Perform responsible professional accounting duties in the preparation and maintenance of accounting and financial records for various funds.
• Analyze and evaluate accounting documents, records, and accounts.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial records and reports.
• Coordinate audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
• Manage financial duties associated with the maintenance of financial records for the District and other entities.

Requirements

• Graduation from a college or university with a major in accounting or a closely related field.
• At least two years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a government agency or utility.
• Experience with state and federal grant accounting, reimbursement requests, and financial reporting.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with enterprise accounting and financial software.
• Advanced skills in spreadsheet software and data analysis.
